A current major movie release
Students are to watch and review a current major movie release (or, DVD) to examine the main character's use
of language, verbal and nonverbal. Examples might include films such as: The Artist, Batman, Avenger, Bad
Boys for Life, Extraction, The Hustle, Scoob, Get Smart, Uncut Gems, or any number of Hulu, Netflix or Disney
streaming movies.
Watch the film for language usage--verbal and nonverbal. Students response to and answer five (5) questions.
Film Evaluation: Name the Film (and use names and details from the film)
How does the main character use language to communicate with others?
Are there examples of you-language in the conversations? How would you change it to I-language?
What about examples of ambiguous language?
Identify either kinesics, proxemics or chronemics in the film.
Provide some examples of improving the nonverbal communication using the same section from your text.
