1- Your friend Fred is getting married and has been asked to set up the seating chart for the reception- The problem that Fred has is that his family is very
political and tends to frequently get into arguments about their politics- He wants to avoid this at his reception- The problem that Fred has is that his
education from Drunken State University did not prepare him to understand the differences between ideologies- He calls you for help- He has a table for each
ideology as well as others for normal people who don’t feel the need to share their politics every time they are around others-
a- Fred’s Aunt Sally may need a table to herself. She believes that mankind is flawed because of racial impurities in society. Furthermore, she believes that a
strong government should convert the country into a neat and tidy state and that we should eliminate or deport those who don’t dress, act, or talk in ways
that fit the prescribed norms established by the government- What do you think Aunt Sally’s Political ideology is?
b- Fred’s Uncle Billy is not happy with our government either. He thinks that rich fat cats should be taxed a much higher rate to help pay for social programs
for the working class- As a fervent Labor Union supporter, Uncle Billy thinks that many large corporations should be taken over by the government and the
profits shared among everyone in the population- It’s not that Uncle Billy is against people accumulating wealth, it’s just that he thinks that rich people are not
paying near their fair share- What do you think Uncle Billy’s Political ideology is?
c- Fred’s Aunt Mary thinks our government should be smaller, much smaller. She wants the national government to basically stop doing everything its doing
except for providing a military and a police force- She is okay with some local governments paying for schools and roads, but beyond that she thinks things
like progressive taxes are like theft- What do you think Aunt Mary’s Political ideology is?
d- Fred’s Uncle Manny thinks that we need to get back to the basics- He thinks we have gotten too far away from our Christian heritage- He also has problems
with people on welfare because he thinks that government programs only enable poverty further because poverty is about poor personal decisions in his
mind- What do you think Uncle Manny’s Political ideology is?
e- Fred’s Aunt Linda is a different story. She wants government to be much more involved in stopping the causes of poverty. She wants government to invest
much more money in the poor to prevent poverty from perpetuating in further generations- This can be financed through higher taxes on the wealthy. Linda is
a CEO of a corporation and has no problem with the free market, she just does not want to see so many others left behind-
f. Fred’s Uncle Rico is a hoot- He basically thinks that the best way to deal with issues like poverty is to get rid of all private property all together. Government
should own and control everything- Yes, some people will rebel, but if you want to make an omelet, you’ve got to crack a few eggs- He thinks in the long run, a
government without religion, private property and greed will lead to everyone being much better off. What do you think Uncle Rico’s political ideology is?
g- Fred’s Aunt Debbie believes that our Christian values are being assaulted and that we need to get back to the basics- She wants government to strongly
support prayer in school and good wholesome Christian values in the laws that it makes- She also things that government should be doing more about
poverty and should raise the taxes on the wealthy to help pay for programs to help the poor. She believes that poverty is a cyclical problem and that
government is one of the only entities big enough to stop the suffering- What do you think Aunt Debbie’s Political ideology is?
