In this section of the course we will examine two key topics, the Civil Rights Movement and The Cold War. We are looking to see how both events
became intertwined with Texas' struggle for equal rights, in particular due process of law. We will use the Krochmal text and Civil Rights Reader to
engage these topics and see how Texas history for this time frame reflected many of the social issues throughout America in that era.
The height of activity for the Civil Rights Movement occurred during the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson. This week we will examine the social
movements that led to the height of the Civil Rights Movement and the political and organizational issues that affected the movement's progress into
the heart of the 1960s. The most important item to review for your success is the Krochmal text, Blue Texas.
