Clinical Experience and Clinical Practice Guidelines

Story It was last semester, and I was helping a patient decide what they wanted to eat for dinner. I made sure what diet they were on and if they could eat by mouth. I went through each item with her and asked if she wanted it. She was very appreciative that I took the time to go through each item on the menu with her. After I did that, I called the cafeteria, and ordered the food for her. I felt a sense of ownership in helping this patient and felt like I was a nurse in that instant instead of a student completing some tasks. I felt this way because there was no one that helped me, and I made sure the patient felt heard and cared for. After I did all that, I double checked with my nurse to make sure that I did everything right, and she confirmed I had. Below is a link to a problem and solution I would like you to discuss in the paper. https://resources.cbord.com/hubfs/Healthcare%20Collateral/Tucson-Medical-Center-HealthCare-Case%20Study-HC.pdf CPG to refer too for your help, don’t use these in references for paper. This can be with a patient, family member, nurse, or other healthcare professional. Write a 1- to 2-page paper describing the event, the roles of the people involved, and how it was handled. There should be evidence of reflection and critical thinking. Examples of such experiences used in this entry could include the following: Patient outcome or patient satisfaction with care, based on how the patient was managed (which could relate to pain control, end of life care, living will, power of attorney, HIPAA, patient informed consent, handoff report, interdisciplinary rounding, surgical time out, hospital-acquired infection, VAP, pressure ulcer, CAUTI, CLABSI) Patient-centered care Teamwork and collaboration Conflict and/or conflict resolution Summarize the hospital CPGs and/or policies as they relate to this incident. If there is no CPG or policy, find a CPG or policy from another organization that could be implemented at this organization and summarize. Include evidence found in the literature about the importance of this CPG or the impact of allowing this practice to continue without change. Reflect on what you have learned from this experience.
