Community involvement, changes in healthcare
Prompt #1 (max is 500 characters, including spaces): "Tell us about your involvement in the community. describe something you are involved in right now
which positively impacts your community. Consider informal as well as formal community activities and be specific."
I am a full time Nursing student and I am applying to get into an RN-BSN program. This is one of the admission essay questions. It can only be 500
characters long. The only involvement with the community I am specifically involved in right now is that I am an officer/part of the leadership team for the
student nurses association at my school (I am the ICC coordinator). In my role I attend all inter-club council meetings to represent the student nursing
association, act as liaison between ICC and SNA, I coordinate student to volunteer, donate blood, or attend ICC meetings in order to make up hours. As a member of the SNA, I also have the opportunity to volunteer at different events, including the Walk to End Alzheimers. Please feel free to talk about anything that you believe may be more relevant to the prompt. The admission adviser at the school I am applying to really emphasized the importance of writing about public health in our answers.
Prompt #2 (max is 500 characters, including spaces): Is there an aspect of health care you want to change?
I was thinking I could maybe include something about public health in this area. Once again, the admissions adviser really stressed the importance of writing about public health in our answers.
Prompt #3 (max is 500 characters): What is the most valued type of knowledge or skill you want to gain as a result of your bachelor’s in nursing (BSN) education?
This is the third short answer prompt I have to answer. I was thinking that I should maybe write something else about serving the community and public
health. At the end of the day I want to be a nurse because I am deeply passionate about helping others in the community, and my goal is to get the highest
education possible in my field in order to be better suited to do so. I want to be the best nurse I can possibly be, and getting my BSN is the next step in doing that
