The Vietnam War conflict is often referred to as the “first televised war." It was the introduction for viewers to film and video of war combat, terror, and
human suffering. Because of the technology at the time, "live to tape" often had a 24- to 48-hour lag or delay. This gave broadcast journalists, news
producers, and station programmers time to consider precisely WHAT they would broadcast.
Almost instantaneous news coverage exists today with advanced smart technologies for content gathering and distribution. This has contributed to
the ideas of "fake news," "inaccurate reporting," and the plethora of "retractions."
