Culture

Tasks Step 1: Listen to and take notes on the Human Communication lecture in week 2 of modules. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAnVuxMLcLM) Step 2: Listen to Dr. Cargile's talk on intercultural communication. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZQdyhIVOsU&list=PL1POu-XNKt4kARRXD6town0P2oiqz0rDN) Step 3: Listen to the article "How The Hidden Brain Does the Thinking for Us" by Shankar Vedantam on NPR.org ( https://www.npr.org/2010/01/25/122864641/how-the-hidden-brain-does-the-thinking-for-us ) Step 4: In a 200-300 word post, explain the following statement: "In studying other cultures, we do so very often from the perspective of our own culture." In your response, try to draw a connection among concepts shared in these three artifacts (Lecture on Communication, Dr. Cargile's talk and the NPR article.) Incorporate an example from your own experience. (Be sure to carefully follow the suggestions in Analyzing versus Summarizing in modules.) Please note: You must first post your own original initial response (at least 200 words in length) before viewing the initial responses of your classmates. Do not post a blank response first and then view the responses of your classmates as doing so will compromise the originality of your own response and result in points being deducted from your score on the assignment or a grade of "0" (zero).
