DATA IN THE AGE OF COVID

The role of Big Data Analytics in the Control and Fight against the Pandemic In this paper, a critical review of various literature, research, frameworks and studies will be conducted highlighting the benefits, challenges and contributions of big data analytics to the fight against COVID-19. As much as big data provided several benefits, there were also various challenges that limited immediate response to the virus, these challenges will be explored in this paper. The study will also evaluate the various ways big data applications and technologies such as Contact tracing applications, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), Electronic health records, Mobile applications, amongst others were implemented to manage, prevent, control and proffer solutions to the pandemic in various countries. It will explore various big data analytics tools and their contributions to the fight against the pandemic as well as using existing applications and findings to facilitate future research on COVID-19 study. Various databases such as Science Direct, IEEE Digital library, MDPI and Google Scholar will be used to conduct this research.
