In crystallization, nucleation process is a stochastic phenomenon; induction time experiments are helpful to understand this phenomenon. Conventional crystallization process can take longer time to induce nucleation in unseeded experiments. Sonocrystallization is a process in which ultrasound used to induce the nucleation and to reduce the crystal size. Induction time experiments in presence of ultrasound would help to understand the influence of ultrasound on nucleation induction in small scale. In this project, student will engage in nucleation experiments of model API compound (like salicylic acid) in different solvents and under the influence of ultrasound for comparison with non-ultrasonic conditions.
