Ethical decision making
Nurses may experience moral distress when faced with ethical dilemmas in the work environment.  Ethical decision-making models allow nurses to process situations and develop options based on all the factors.   1. Reflect on your personal values.2. Consider how your values influence your professional decision-making.3. Recall a nursing experience when you were faced with an ethical dilemma. (Do not use the same dilemma or model as used in the discussion for Week 2)4. Identify the feelings that you experienced during this time. 5. Review the ethical decision-making model found in Burkhardt & Nathaniel (2014), p. 167.6. In a 6-9 page paper (NOT including title page and reference page):⢠o Briefly summarize a nursing experience when you were faced with an ethical dilemma. For confidentiality, please do not use names of people or institutions.o Discuss the moral distress you experienced during this dilemma.o Apply the ethical decision-making model (p. 167) to the experience.  o Compare and contrast your actions in this situation with the actions you might have taken if you had applied the ethical decision-making model to this incident. Remember to include your role as a patient advocate in your discussion.o How does your spirituality affect the ethical considerations when caring for clients?
