Choose a family from your practice, clinical site, or community. The family must be from a different
cultural/ethnic background than you. You will then schedule an interview with the family and ask assigned
questions compiled from sections of The Friedman Family Assessment Model-Short Form (see attachment in
Module 6 in the course) and Andrews/Boyle Transcultural Nursing Assessment Guide for Families, Groups,
and Communities (see Appendix B in Andrews and Boyle, 2015). Remember that the information you obtain in the interview should be referenced as personal communication. Please refer to your APA Manual for the correct format for personal communication. The interview must be written in a paragraph format and NOT in a question and answer format. The information you obtain from the interview can be summarized to help fit the page requirements for this assignment.
The findings of the family assessment should be used to select a theory and develop a diagnosis and plan of care (see Chapters 2 and 5 in Kaakinen, et al., 2018). The theory should help you select either a medical or nursing diagnosis and guide your plan of care. You may also find Chapter 11 of the Andrews and Boyle (2015)
text helpful with this paper and the plan of care. Outside, scholarly resources within the last 5 years can also be used. Remember that Wikipedia is NOT a scholarly resource. Websites that end in .org, .gov and .edu are typically scholarly, whereas websites that end in .com are NOT scholarly. Please make sure that online resources are also within the last 5 years.
Do not identify the family with the actual name and address and also do not include the actual name of their place of employment. Use initials or a false name only when completing the paper.
