Folk dress

Traditional dresses are also considered as a folk dress. They represent the identity in many countries around the world. It is mostly considered as in Inherited which is subsequently connected to people’s way of thinking and feeling. These traditional dresses also have a strong religious value, for example, the Turban worn by the Sikh community and the veil that is used by many of the Muslim women around the world as an emblem. Along with the religious values, it also identifies the ethnic or political values. These values tend to give these traditional or cultural dresses a meaning with a strong sense of identity. In an experiment performed by Power et al (2011) it was studied that some people consider it just a piece of cloth to wear but to majority of people traditional dress is of great importance and is an identity to them. It is believed by many people that dress or clothing helps in establishing their identity and place in society.
