CQ/Globe Leadership Research Paper –
The most promising strategy for sustained multicultural improvement is developing the ability of
personnel to function with moderate to high levels of cultural intelligence (CQ). In this
multicultural community, leaders, like you, create an environment that foster mutual understanding,
cooperation, trust, and personal growth as they work together to achieve what cannot be
accomplished alone.
Yet, multicultural collaboration in many organizations seems to be an unnatural act. Therefore,
your task is to respond to the question below and synthesize how you can be an effective cultural
intelligent (CQ) leader in an organization.
The first portion of your paper requires the student to research synthesize and report the current
skill-set of Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) within the cultural
intelligence area. When this SWOT is complete, the student will take this information and evaluate
four to five (4-5) CQ practices which an organization can implement which can foster a results-
oriented environment yet encourages multicultural understanding from employee groups. Choose any
organization which meets your needs (place of employment or a local company in your community).

Part One: Personal SWOT Analysis for Cultural Intelligence (CQ)
A CQ SWOT analysis is a look at you and your life as it relates to cultural intelligence. It will
help you identify where you need to improve as it relates to CQ, and more importantly allows you to
identify your internal CQ strengths that you can capitalize on to seize your opportunities and
thwart any external threats. For this reason, it is an important step which shouldn’t be
overlooked.
Strengths: What are your abilities, skills talents in CQ? What do you currently “bring to the
table?”
Weaknesses: What are your main limitations in CQ?
Opportunities: What opportunities (dreams, wishes, goals) have you been considering in CQ?
Threats: What external threats (changes to income, travel fears, etc) could affect you
negatively?
Part Two: The impact of multicultural practices on organizations.
The second part of the paper is to evaluate four to five (4-5) CQ practices which an organization
can implement which can foster a results-oriented environment yet encourages multicultural
understanding from employee groups. Choose an organization or a company you are close to or have
an interest in (like Soaring Eagle Casino, Spectrum Health Care, Ford Motor Company, FOX
Entertainment in Detroit, Whirlpool, TACOM, any division in the US Military, General Motors, Coca
Cola, etc). This portion of the paper requires you to review “best multicultural intelligence
practices” and create an action plan for CQ training in the organization. If the organization has
some forms of CQ training, identify them and provide an analysis.
