The paper should have the following components:
A Title Page, with your paper title, your name, the course number and name, the date, and your professor’s name on it, and your signature at the bottom of the page.
Properly formatted: double-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font.
Properly organized around a central claim (thesis) supported by organized paragraphs that each have a central supporting idea.
Proper citations in Chicago format for each instance in which you are using specific information drawn from a source. See below for more directions on citations.
Consistent and clear grammar and spelling.
A Bibliography Page, recording every individual source you have used for your paper.
There is no maximum or minimum number of sources to use on this paper, but I will expect to see that you are using primary sources extensively, with quality (read:
scholarly) secondary sources to support and contextualize your argument and the primary sources.Possible Topics. These are topics that you can choose from, and from
which you will develop a coordinated set of topics for your team. For your individual papers and PowerPoints, you will have to narrow your focus to a single
individual, event, or object. In essence, pick one from each column, and begin your research, using the textbook and its resources as a starting point. And asterisk *
indicates finding sufficient source material could be difficult.
