Historic art

Option 1: Visit a local museum (The Getty and LACMA are safe bets) and locate an exhibit or object that falls within the time frame of our class (ie: 50,000 BC – 1400 AD) and summarize its appearance, composition, historical context, and your personal response. Feel free to use an object or exhibit that falls outside what we’ve looked at in class, particularly if it reflects a part of the globe we didn’t get to look at closely. Option 2: Read an approved book or watch an approved movie and write a summary of the content and your personal response. The book or movie should relate directly to material covered in the class. An example of an appropriate book would be “The Mind in the Cave” by David Lewis-Williams or “Akhenaten and the Religion of Light” by Erik Hornung and David Lorton.
