Interview with a Community Organizer

    One of the steps in creating your advocacy toolkit involves looking at others who are leaders in the field. For your social issue, find a leader (they can be running an organization or leading efforts to change the landscape around your social issue) and interview them. Keep in mind you should be looking for: Social Justice Issue Reflection: Describe the participant's stance on the social justice issue, including the impact as a social justice issue on the selected population, perspective on the factors causing the problem, and potential solutions. Interview an organizer (or another interested participant): Identify why they got involved in the movement, who is impacted, why this matter, who cares about the issue, tactics used that have been both successful and unsuccessful, what they hope to achieve, and their timeframe for action. Summary: Write about what you learned about the key issues, population impacted, and success models and tactics. In addition, note what did not work and layout an action plan if you were leading this movement.
