Intro to IT

Description

ISQS 2340 – Intro to IT
Individual Assignment – IT in Your Future Career Research Paper

Purpose: Given the ubiquity of information technology (IT) in today’s business environment and how
IT both enables business and creates value for businesses, seeing how IT will likely influence and
impact your planned career will help you to be better prepared for your future career path. This short
research paper will help you to gain a better understanding of how IT is used by those in your planned
profession, and what the near-term future may hold for your planned profession as it relates to IT.
Instructions: Please first read through the IT in Your Career Preparation Materials located on
Blackboard. Then, for this research paper you will address the following questions:
• In what way(s) is IT fundamental to the work professionals undertake in your planned
profession?
• What might the next 5-10 years look like in terms of your planned profession as it relates to IT
and innovations in IT?
At the outset of your paper, please state your planned profession (i.e., what you plan to do after
graduation over the next 5-10 years). In your research paper you will need to reference at least three
sources. One of these sources must be someone who works in (or with those in) your planned
profession. Speaking briefly with one or more of the representatives from industry at the Rawls Career
Fair may prove helpful.
1
If you are not able to attend the Rawls Career Fair, please find someone else
in your planned profession to speak with.
To submit your research paper, please upload a Word (.doc/ .docx) file to Blackboard (please don’t
email me your submission unless you are having issues submitting via Blackboard) by the due date
listed in the course schedule. Late submissions will not be accepted, and will receive a score of 0 (per
the Late Submission policy in the syllabus).
Format: 1 page, 11 or 12-point Calibri font, single-spaced (with 8-point font spacing between
paragraphs), 0.8-inch margins. Also, please include a cover page with your name and the title of the
assignment, and a references page with the references you cite. The cover page and references
section do not count towards the 1-page limit. Cite your sources using MLA, APA, Chicago, or another
citation style of your choice.
Grading: This assignment is worth 25 points. Your assignment will be graded based on content,
including clarity and organization of the ideas and findings you present. Additionally, your assignment
will be graded based on correct spelling and grammatical practices, and your ability to follow all of the
instructions and formatting guidelines contained herein.

My own instructions

-For the format use 12-point Calibri instead of 11-point.
-Also use MLA format for the research paper its self and the cited sources page.
-I was not able to find someone in my field to talk too to use as a source, so Ill bite the bullet on that.

  • In the instructions It states "At the outset of your paper, please state your planned profession (i.e., what you plan to do after
graduation over the next 5-10 years)". I will take care of this part.
  • My planned profession Is to be a Human Resources Manager for a company.
Here are the other two links of information. For some reason I was not able to upload these 2 pieces of information.
