This is my suggested TEMPLATE/PARAGRAPHS:

Introduction
Main Point (ideally, please discuss each major point in a separate paragraph)
Main Point
Main Point (Please make the point … don’t write “main point.”)
Conclusions and Policy Implication.

  1. Some things are caused by other things. Talking about cause and effect and with respect to nomothetic explanation, what are the three specific criteria for causality? In order words, what conditions must exist before you can conclude that A “causes” B? Please discuss each of the three criteria in detail.

Also, please distinguish between necessary and sufficient causes. What do you understand by “Reductionism”?

  1. According to our course text, “When we are concerned with whether we are correct in inferring that a cause produced an effect, we are concerned with the validity of causal inference.” It is almost never possible to conclusively establish the validity of causal inference. We cannot make any sort of absolute judgment about whether our statements about the cause are true. Instead, social scientists try to address different validity threats in causal inference – reasons we might be incorrect in stating that some cause produced some effect. Please list AND discuss the threats to four general categories of validity

Also, given what you learned in this chapter including your answer to the three criteria for causality above, please discuss whether you think that drug use CAUSES Crime.
