Investigating Accounting Fraud

    The investigation of accounting fraud is an integral part of forensic accounting. Read the accounting fraud case studies provided in the Week 7 Learning Resources. This Course Project will focus on WorldCom. Write a 3- to 4-page paper from the perspective of an investigator, addressing the following: Part 1—Case Study Analysis -Analyze fraud detection and investigation techniques used in your selected case study. -Evaluate whether the investigation met the fraud auditing standards according to Statements on Auditing Standards (SASs) issued by the Auditing Standards Board (ASB). -Provide your rationale on which types of auditing controls should have been in place. Part 2—Fraud Investigation Plan -Describe your plan for investigating this fraud case. -Explain the types of evidence you would collect and the collection techniques you would use. -Provide examples of the interview questions you would use during your investigation. -Outline a plan for how you would change the internal controls of the company to improve prevention and detection of fraud. -Explain how you would analyze the fraud evidence and present it to stakeholders.
