Investigative techniques and forensics

        Though advances in investigative techniques and forensics have been useful in the pursuit of the serial killer, in some instances, the offender eludes law enforcement. By studying these investigations we can gain a better understanding of the serial killer’s method of operation. Using quality sources research a serial murder investigation in which the case remains unsolved to develop a response paper. The choice of which serial killer case to use is yours! - You may choose any unsolved case or killer that has not been previously case studied in this course. Your response should include: 1. A summary of the unidentified serial offenders and his offenses (in many unsolved cases the killer will be identified by a pseudonym which was given by the media or investigating agency, ie, Jack the Ripper, Zodiac, etc). 2. Explain what evidence links the crime scenes and establishes this as a serial murder investigation. 3. What characteristics are similar to the previous case studies? 4. In your opinion (supported by the research), why does this serial offense remain unsolved? What information or evidence would be useful in bringing the offender to justice?
