Is There Redemption in King Lear?

Critic Margery Garber asks,"Is there any redemption in KL? The play poses this question but will not answer it...The question remains open. Every production seeks its own answer, according to the bonds of theater." How would you answer Garber's question if you were directing KL? Does Lear's suffering lead to redemption and renewal, or is Lear's suffering, as Harold Bloom declares, "neither redeemable nor redeemed"? As always, find evidence in the script to support whatever assertion you make. To answer this question adequately will require a minimum of five pages. It requires looking closely at Lear's actions, his suffering, his recognition, and the final moments.
