Many of these beliefs have no scientific merit or value, and they are not always safe. It’s a hard thing to try to convince someone that their cultural beliefs are not safe, but it is our duty as medical professionals to assist everyone and help them maintain good outcomes. This is something that we need to make sure we are able to do in a caring manner, and as we have seen, sometimes it may not always happen the way we would like.
