All papers should be double-spaced and students are expected to use a traditional, 12 pt font, such as Times New Roman or Arial. Part I - Textbook Instrument Summaries (2-3 pages) There is an instrument associated with each chapter of your textbook (beginning with chapter 2). All instruments appear at the end of the chapter (2-16). Throughout the semester you will complete these instruments to learn about yourself as a leader and share your results via the written weekly discussion posts. For Part I of Leadership Reflection Essay, you must review all of your posts with an eye toward refreshing you memory regarding the results you obtained on each instrument. Now that you have all of this information about yourself as a leader, identify your strengths as well as areas in need of improvement. Part II - Theory Summaries (2-3 pages) Part I above should also help you review all of the theories and concepts we've covered together this semester. For Part II of your Leadership Reflection Essay, you will pick 3 theories/concepts covered this semester that most resonated with you. For each theory/concept (1) describe an example from your real-world experiences that highlights the theory – describe the example and explain the connection to the theory/concept and (2) answer the following question: What is important to know about this specific leadership theory and/or concept? Part III - Your Leadership Autobiography (2-3 pages) Describe who you are as a leader and how you got to this place. You may present this information chronologically or in some other manner which is reflective of you as a person and leader. Part III asks what you learned about yourself within the context of leadership this semester, as well as what you already knew about this exciting field of study and your leadership status. Use information obtained throughout the semester to support your observations/reflections and be sure your response touches on the following questions: • What are your strengths? • What are your aspirations? • What or who has influenced you and how? • When did you first notice leadership? • What social identities (race, religion, abilities, social class, origins, etc.) shape your leadership? • What other forces or experiences have shaped your leadership ideas and values? Please note, you do not need to answer these questions in the order presented above but Part III of your essay should provide a clear picture of your responses. In other words, the above bulleted questions are meant to guide you as you think about what to include in Part III of your Leadership Reflection Essay. Be specific, paint a clear picture for your reader, take time to deeply reflect and most of all, tell your leadership story!
