Literature Review
SECTION 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
Your need to collect and read 6 research papers on your research topic. Read each paper well then write one paragraph about each paper. Each of these paragraphs should include at least 5 lines in which you critically evaluate and summarize each paper as follows:
(1) the researcher’s last name and the year of publication, such as this (Yassin, 2017), (2) the purpose of the research, (3) the methodology (qualitative or quantitative), (4) the method (survey, interviews, observation, etc.), and (5) the findings.
Each paragraph should represent a critical summary of each of your chosen research papers. Make sure to use APA format and that you provide intext citations in each paragraph. Also, provide the references on a separate page. Refer to page 2 for more specific instructions.
SECTION 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction
Write an introduction on your research topic in which you explain the significance of the topic. Also explain that the topic has been studied by different researchers who shed light on different aspects of it, such as Robert (2019), Jackson (2018), and Jeffery (2015). Then mention the aspect of this problem that researchers haven’t addressed or have not thoroughly addressed or one that you want to challenge or disagree with. This aspect will be the research gap you have discovered; therefore, it is the one you want to address. In other words, this area will be your contribution as a researcher.
Imagine “Being the Only Child in a Family” is the research topic that interests you. Also assume that different researchers addressed different aspects of this problem: the educational quality, the psychological aspect, the self-esteem, the quality of responsibility. Obviously, the sociability aspect of being the only child in a family is not addressed. As a result, assume you want to investigate it. In this case you may end your literature review as follows:
The issue of being the only child in a family had been the topic of empirical and nonempirical research for the last two decades. However, an important aspect of this topic has not been investigated yet, specifically, its effects on the child’s social skills.
Using a reversed chronological organization, write the first body paragraph about one of the studies you have collected. (1) Mention the researcher’s last name and the year of the article’s publication. (2) Explain the purpose of his/her study, (3) the methodology he/she used, and (4) the findings.
Write the second body paragraph about another study you have found. (1) Mention the researcher’s last name and year of the article publication. (2) Explain the purpose of his/her study, (3) the methodology he/she used, and (4) the findings
Write the third paragraph about another study you have found. (1) Mention the researcher’s last name and year of the article publication. (2) Explain the purpose of his/her study, (3) the methodology he/she used, (4) and the findings.
Write the fourth body paragraph about another study you have found. (1) Mention the researcher’s last name and year of the article publication. (2) Explain the purpose of his/her study, (3) the methodology he/she used, and (4) the findings.
Write the fifth body paragraph about another study you have found. (1) Mention the researcher’s last name and year of the article publication. (2) Explain the purpose of his/her study, (3) the methodology he/she used, and (4) the findings.
Conclusion
Write a conclusion in which you repeat the importance of the topic and three prominent researchers to who contributed to it and when (years of publication). Finally, mention the gap you are planning to address in your current research study and explain its research value. This paragraph should be between three to five lines.
IMPORTANT!
Make sure to use the APA style for everything. Also provide a list of all the sources of information you have used to write literature your review. This list of sources is called “References,” and it should be written on a separate page, under the heading “References.” The word “References” should be written in the center on the top of the page and it should be centralized. (See the next page.) Also see the student sample submitted with this assignment.
