Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi has won numerous awards for its retelling of the events occurring in the childhood of the main character during the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Satrapi has stated that she could not have envisioned any other medium in which to tell her story than as a graphic novel. Afterall, this was one of the first times in which reporters were documenting and immediately submitting images to a worldwide public.

Your job in this paper is twofold: assess how valid Satrapi’s account of this historical moment is compared to your historical research AND address the importance of visuals to understanding the nature of the Iranian conflict.
