Methods of Family Research
⢠Select a specific problem that may cause a family to use the services of a human services worker or a family therapist. Explain how the practitioner could use research to better understand the problem that is presented. For instance, if discussing domestic violence, cite a research article that deals with the problem of domestic violence. In your initial post, respond to this discussion and list at least two references that validate your point. Your initial post must be at least 250 words in length, not counting the reference list or a repetition of the discussion topic. Cite your sources in APA 6th edition format.
⢠In Chapter 2, Greenstein explains causal inference in family research. He discusses framing a hypothesis that tests the relationships between variables in quantitative researchâremember that qualitative research has neither hypotheses nor variables. Looking for a cause-and-effect relationship, a question could be asked such as: to what extent is there a relationship between age at marriage and marital satisfaction?
In your initial post for this discussion, devise a research question that looks for a cause-and-effect relationship among variables and which relates to the family unit. Identify the dependent and independent variables in the research question. State the hypothesis for the study.
Using at least two references, explain why this would be a quantitative study rather than a qualitative study.
Be sure your writing is grammatically correct and easy to understand. Your initial post must be at least 250 words in length, not counting the reference list or a repetition of the discussion topic. Cite your sources in APA 6th edition format.
