MOVIE – BENEATH CLOUDS (2002)

For this exercise, you must

1. Presentation on an Australian film. – MOVIE – BENEATH CLOUDS (2002)
   (1200-word equivalent) 4-5-minute presentation.
2. In your discussion you must explore the film, looking at genre, critical themes, and/or the political and cultural landscape represented. Other issues/ questions can be explored.
   The important task is to locate your discussion of the film within the context of national cinema. What is being represented/ shown about Australia and nationhood? Who performs nationality? What landscape is this framed within? How does the film formally (i.e. through editing, camera framing, sound, etc) represent its subjects? What does this tell us about ‘Australia’ and screen culture? And so on.
   2.please do not:
   a. Only re-tell the narrative of the film
   b. Play clips that go for extensive amounts of time
   c. Make discussion so broad that audience members lose sight of the key ideas/issues you are exploring
