Part One – General Opinions As a whole express the elements of the movie you enjoyed or disliked. As in all good journalism, the reviewer should give impartial details, and allow the reader to make their own mind over any given issue. Opinions should be explained to allow the reader to determine whether they would agree with the opinion. A good movie review should entertain, persuade and inform. Other things to consider include the quality of acting, effective story-line, and how well the movie was shot and directed. Minimum 400 words total. Part Two – Four Scenes Discuss four specific scenes and/or individual that you found important, interesting or caught your attention in some way, and explain why. Minimum 400 words total. Part Three – Bigger Picture One thing that unites each of the following film options, is the idea of an interplay between Western music sensibilities with that of another culture, i.e. the idea of Westerners going to some distant (or not so distant) land to interact with another music culture. Discuss how the film you select represents the bigger picture for world music, including this interplay, as well as the potential risks (ethnocentrism) and rewards (great music) in doing so.
