"Myth of the Metals"

  Apply Socrates' "Myth of the Metals" (from the Republic) to the current politics, culture, and society of the United States, as best you understand it. Is America a country of Gold, Silver, and Bronze (or Iron) people, as Socrates defines and describes those distinctions? How so — or how not? If so, is that a good thing? If not, should America accept the "wisdom" of this classification, and its consequences?
