The “Nature’s Nether Regions” book review will cover three components. Introductory paragraph: Introduce the
book to the reader (me) and give a short summary that includes the major point(s) of the book. Don’t forget to
include the complete title of the book as well as the author’s name. In the last sentence, indicate the topic you
will be addressing in the review. Topic Analysis: Choose from one of the following topics (A, B, or C). Use the
text to provide background and support to your analysis. Your analysis should refer to the text and you can
quote (include page numbers); however, the majority of the book report should be in your own words. This part
should be at least two pages long. Topic A: Describe the role of females in the evolution of sex. Highlight
strategies employed by females including at least two (2) adaptations or two innovations that arose from sexual
selection. Describe the adaptation that had the greatest impression on you upon reading. Topic B: Describe the
role of males in the evolution of sex. Highlight strategies employed by males including at least two (2)
adaptations or two innovations that arose from sexual selection. Describe the adaptation that had the greatest
impression on you upon reading. Topic C: Compare and contrast the relationship between sexual selection and
natural selection. Incorporate and discuss examples from the book to illustrate your understanding of this
relationship, including one (1) example from each chapter highlighting whether it is more sexual selection or
natural selection. Critique: Write a short (1-page maximum) critique of the book as a whole. Include the main
point(s) that you learned from the text. What are the benefits of the reading assignment? What difficulties did
you encounter in reading this text?
