1. Look at the 8/15/17 Surface Weather Map (SWM). What are Duluth’s temperature, dewpoint & pressure readings? Is fog occurring? Why or why not? 2. Notice the stationary front across southern Iowa on the Surface Weather Map. Compare the Dewpoints of Springfield, IL, & St Louis Mo to those north of the front in (a) Moline, IL, (b) La Crosse, WI and (c) Minneapolis-St Paul (MSP). What are these dewpoint readings? 3. Describe what you would “feel” north of the front vs south of the frontal boundary in question 6. 4. Examine the High/Low Temperature Map for 8/15/17, Notice the hi/lo temp spread at MSP is 17°F whereas in Little Rock, Ark. has only a 4°F spread. Why? (Hint: need to think of why the temperature barely drops at night) 5. How does the 500 mb Level Map explain the mild temperatures from upstate NY to Caribou Maine? (Look to where the upper level flow originates)
