The question of the assignment:
Theme topic?: Making use of the SocialEpistemic Reading model, what do you see as the
moral intention not just of humanity but also the act of creation. I would like for you to
approach the theme in a slightly different manner this week. In part one?, focus on the
concept of worship as explicated by Kass and narrated in Alter’s translation of Genesis.
In part two?, contrast worship with dif inii as presented by Farella and narrated by
Zolbrod’s translation. In part three?, based on your analysis?above, how far apart (in terms
of intention and procedure) are the ideas of worship and diyinii as suggested by both
primary ?and secondary texts?? Finally, in part four,?do you see a way that these two ideas
could complement each other? How? To what end?
Definitions?:
Primarily Text:?the text to be analyzed. Used to provide examples and support to assumptions made by
the writer.
Secondary Text:?the text used to supply context and definitions to be used in analyzing the primary text.
Analysis:?An exploration and explanation of the meaning of the text as determined by a reader. Often, the
reader will make use of a heuristic to structure their response. Will make use of the narrative for examples
