Do an in-depth managerial analysis of a selected organization (preferably where they are currently
employed or a company they would love to join).
Topics addressed by the Study
1/What is the mission of the organization?
-What planning methodologies are utilized?
-Define and assess the organization's strategy.
-Identify its customers and/or constituents; and its competitors.
2/Describe how the firm is organized.
-Note the formal structure (organizational charts)
-Mode of organization, span of control, and coordination
-Describe the decision-making process.
-How the organization manages change?
3/What is the leadership style?
-Who are the organization's heroes?
-Describe and evaluate the motivational environment.
-Assess the effectiveness of the organizational communications.
-Comment on the processes for control and notes on the type of controls.
4/Evaluate any innovative managerial practices.
-The organization’s culture (following Schein’s layers)
-Global presence (absence)
-What ethical dilemmas are faced and how they are tackled?
-What sources of "employee empowerment" are utilized?
5/Problem identification and resolution (Acting as a management consultant)
-Identify, describe, clarify, and analyze a problem
-Suggest a solution to the problem (include your rationale)
-Identify and justify a model of change to address the problem
-Recommend an implementation plan for the solution
-Provide a means of assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of the solution
