Our Multi-generational Workforce

The 21st Century U.S. Workforce is changing. For the first time the history of the workforce, we have five generations in the workforce. The date range of the multi-generational workforce vary and for this discussion, we will use the date ranges assigned by the Center for Generational Kinetics: • Traditionalist or Silent Generation (born before 1945) • Baby Boomers (born 1946 through 1964) • Generation X (born 1965 through 1976) • Generation Y or Millennial (born 1977 to 1995) • Generation Z or iGen (born 1996 to ???? ) (now entering the workforce) Research academic data on this subject and include the following questions in your response: • Summarize some of the traits of the generations • In school or work, how has the multi-generation mix affected you? • What do you feel are the advantages or disadvantages to a multi-generational workplace and why?
