Passing by Nella Larsen

In the novel Passing by Nella Larsen, there is a table of contents and look at the subtitle "Criticism", which is on page 335. It contains an article called
"Clare Kendry's 'True' Colors: Race and Class Conflict in Nella Larsen's Passing". Read the article and write 3 well-developed paragraphs and 5
critical thinking questions about the article.
Paragraph 1: Brief summary of the article
Paragraph 2: Critical Response=The content of the author's argument. For example, does it seem valid? Even if you personally feel skeptical or even
disagree - that's fodder for your critical response! Does it make sense? Is it a successful or convincing argument? Why? The structure of the article.
For example, is the introduction attention-grabbing and does it accurately set up the argument that follows? Does the author provide significant and
convincing evidence to support her claims? (Don't just say she provides evidence! Duh! That's her JOB; I should hope she does.) The question is
whether it's strong enough to persuade. Does she provide adequate background information? And be careful of that! Remember that these articles
are written by and for other scholars. Are they right to assume most readers already know something about Nella Larsen and topics like race and
class, and literary terms such as irony? Or do they assume too much and leave even knowledgeable people confused? Take a look at page 9 in the
Writing Lessons document on Blackboard. You'll see a list of an article's elements that you could analyze.
Paragraph 3: Critical Response=personal opinion about the article's analysis. Anything you agree or disagree with etc
