Complete a peer-review of 2 introduction drafts. Follow the
instructions below and upload 2 files to Moodle, one for each peer-review.
For each intro, do the following (remember, you will have 2 to complete):
(1) If you are using word, go to “Tools Track ChangesHighlight Changes. Make sure to the tab “Track changes while editing” is clicked. Now, you should be able to see the changes you make to the person’s document. You also need to be comfortable using the ‘insert comment’. To do this, put your curser on the text you want to comment on, and go to “Insert Comment”. Now you can type a comment into their paper. These are the tools you will need to do this peer review.
(2) Remember, for your 1st draft of your intro, you should have at least the first 3 subheading completed. So, there should be at least 3 clear topics being discussed in this draft.
(3) Now, read the paper and look for the following (if anything is missing or confusing, make sure to put a comment in their paper):
a. Is there a clear general topic being discussed? What is it?
b. What is the second, more specific topics being discussed?
c. And the third?
d. Is there a clear progression from general to specific?
e. Does the intro focus on methods? If so, make sure to comment that the intro should NOT have a focus on methods.
f. As you read, the paper should have a good flow and be easy to understand. If you are confused, insert comments to ask the author questions.
g. Is there a purpose/hypothesis? If so, it is concise and specific and does it reflect the experiment that is going to be performed? If not, ask questions!
h. Make comments and corrections on grammar and word choice.
i. Make suggestions on improving the paper.
(4) Remember, You should have ~5-6 references per subheading. Does the intro use 5-6 different references per topic? Are the citations in an acceptable format?
