Personnel Security
Consider this potential insider threat situation. A professor in the School of Computing want to hire a graduate student in the MS-IS degree program to serve as a paid Teaching Assistant (TA) for his undergraduate courses next semester. The responsibilities of the teaching assistant will be to grade assignments and exams taken in the Sakai course management system, answer emails from students with questions about the material and assignments, and accompany the professor to class. In class the TA will assist him with distribution of materials, and assist students needing help on lab assignments. The professor might also need the TA to make copies of exams and quizzes.
Considering the insider threat potential of the TA, what personnel security countermeasures would you recommend to the professor? Explain in detail and justify your selection of countermeasures. Be specific. Don't just say, for example "separation of duties", but identify the specific duties for each party (instructor, TA-1, TA-2, etc.), and justify. Consider behaviors over the full length of employment of the TA, from pre-hire to employment to termination to post-termination.
