- Formulate a thesis statement about the selected topic. To formulate a good thesis statement, think of a specific problem associated with the selected topic. Communal living, for example, raises a number of problems. One of such problem could be how shared property impacts human relations. As a consequence, your thesis would answer
the question of how communal ownership affected human relations in the Soviet Union.
Note, you are not talking about the general impact of shared property on human relations,
but the impact it had on human relations in the Soviet Union.
The more specific your thesis statement is, the better. The better your thesis is, the
better your paper will be. - Write a persuasive essay on the basis of your research.
- Use at least 3 scholarly sources in your research paper.
- Provide the word count at the end of your paper.

support of the thesis. These examples demonstrate a student’s accurate understanding of the scholarly sources. Introduction and conclusions are logical and are based on the content of the paper.
Thesis statement / Topic sentences: The thesis statement is arguable, specific and clear and answers the research question. All topic sentences are in place and are in support of the thesis statement.

Clarity / Grammar: writing is clear and coherent and presents a logical progression of ideas and supporting information. Grammar errors do not interfere with the reader’s understanding of the paper.
