Poems that share a common theme.
Select three poems that share a common theme. While variously defined, you can think of theme as an idea that recurs in or pervades a piece of literature. As we’ve been discussing on Canvas, poems are often based upon a central theme, which is developed through the poem’s use of literary devices such as figurative language, imagery, rhyme, meter, tone, voice, and/or dialect. One of the challenges of this assignment, therefore, will be explaining how these devices relate to, extend, enrich, or complicate your chosen poems’ theme. The idea here is to see how a common theme can be expressed differently among a group of poems.
