Political Ecology has evolved from a Neo -Marxism view of the world to post Marxist frameworks and is rooted in Marxist Dependency theory and World Systems theory.
Dependency Theory and World System theory recasts capitalism on a global scale, locating exploitation in underdeveloped third world countries (Ragin and Chirot 1984, Wolf 1982)
