Politics is a fascinating topic

  Politics is a fascinating topic to some and far less interesting to others. However, no matter where you fall on the candidates and issues, our political structure is something that impacts our lives on a daily basis in numerous ways. Just think of all of the federal workers that are impacted during government furloughs. Find a current political news story of interest to you in an online, credible news source (in other words, don't use satirical news such as The Onion!). (Here is my challenge to you - try to find something other than news about the latest Presidential tweet) Summarize the topic of the article in your own words (remember to provide a citation and a hot link for us). This should be a paragraph summary. Your news item should be within the last 2 months, and can be local, regional, national, or even international if it involves the United States as well. Use terms and concepts from your chapter reading. Explain what major branch of government you believe is most relevant to the news story you picked and why. If you want to discuss more than one, that is fine; in fact that shows your understanding of how the branches of government intersect on these issues. I encourage you to include some personal reflection on this story, discussing any ways your thinking was transformed about the issue and/or your role as a citizen of this government (for example, does this inform you as a tax payer and voter?), or anything else relevant to this topic. You should be able to show objectivity in your thinking.
