Post-war issues

  The conflict with Great Britain ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1783, but serious issues faced the new United States. Colonists fought for their rights and liberties against the British, but what exactly were those rights and liberties? Who would receive them and who would not? What would be the limits on democratic trends in the new country. Even more importantly, how would the decentralized system of government under the Articles of Confederation work in this union of states? Would American citizens respect the limited authority of Congress?
