Biological Methods for Treating Schizophrenia
There are three main biological methods used to treat schizophrenia:
- Antipsychotic medications: Antipsychotics are the most common treatment for schizophrenia. They work by blocking the action of dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is thought to be involved in schizophrenia. Antipsychotics can help to reduce hallucinations, delusions, and other symptoms of schizophrenia. However, they can also have side effects, such as weight gain, tardive dyskinesia, and akathisia.
