What is Meant by the Term Qualitative Research

Qualitative research is a systematic approach to understanding phenomena from the perspective of the people involved. It is an inquiry process of understanding based on distinct methodological traditions of inquiry that explore a social or human problem. The researcher builds a complex, holistic picture, analyzes words, reports detailed views of informants, and conducts the study in a natural setting. The central goal is not to measure or test hypotheses but to explore, interpret, and understand the meanings, experiences, and perceptions of individuals or groups.
