Examine the information specific to your interests; for example, your informational report could be on “The Top Four Accounting Firms in Southern California” or “The Top Three IT Companies to Work For in Silicon Valley”. Limit your research to specific companies in the field of interest to you and to a specific geographic region where you would like to work in the future. After studying the information, identify factors that attract, retain, and satisfy employees. Take note of features shared across the board, but do not overlook quirky, unusual benefits. Summarize the trends you discovered in an informational report addressed to your professor and classmates.
I suggest an informational report about 3-4 pages of text, single-spaced, body of text: font-size 12, headings: font-size 14, using:
• Title Page
• three levels of headings (which can be done using Microsoft Word heading styles)
• at least one graphic, which you created (not copied from any source), including the title (e.g. Figure 1 Sample Title), and source.
• table of contents (which can be done automatically using Microsoft Word)
• include the following sections (you must use in-text citations):
o Introduction (must include Statement of Purpose – see Ch. 10 PowerPoint Slides 14-15)
o Discussion of Findings (I suggest using the organizational pattern of either Topic/Function or Importance)
o Conclusion
• References/Citations (use MLA format – p. A-15 to A17 in textbook). Use multiple secondary sources for this assignment (3-5 sources). You must use in-text citations to cite your work. See External Links for the link to the Purdue OWL: MLA Formatting and Style Guide.
