Rhetorical Analysis

  choose two essays / editorials on an issue of your choice from a nationally syndicated newspaper or magazine (i.e., Detroit Free Press, New York Times, Time, Newsweek). Both essays / editorials must be on the SAME subject, from two different perspectives -- for example, FOX might have an essay on the current state of the US in the COVID pandemic; the New York Times will have a different point of view. Your task: compare and contrast: 1) summarize major points of each (as in week two assignment) 2) Your thesis will isolate two specific points, of comparison and difference. 2) compare the "bias" or "slant" the essay or editorial demonstrates regarding these points; how does it make its points? What words does the essay use? Does the essay rely upon fact, emotion, rhetoric? 3) your conclusion: What is the bias, and how demonstrated. Be sure, always, to cite and reference. QUOTE the editorial/s in your essay.
