You will write an essay that is at least 1500-2000 words and is a focused evaluation of the argument of one
source. Choose this source wisely, because you’ll be spending a lot of time with it. A rhetorical analysis is close
look at how an author is making her argument, not so much what the argument is (summery) or whether you
agree (response). It’s a piece of writing in which you describe specific features of the argument of your source,
how it works, and, potentially, how well it works (or what it might have done differently). For more detail and

Your rhetorical analysis obviously cites the source that you’re analyzing, but it should also cite two other
sources (at least one academic sources).
