Security Cases

The CEO of your company, D. A. Pitz, has sent a memo to all senior managers indicating that the company has failed the security tests described in the cases (listed below in the Materials section). In the memo, D. A. has directed senior managers to formulate recommendations to prevent the types of attacks described in the cases from working in the future. Develop a list of ways the company could protect itself in the future. Create and upload a Microsoft word document that contains a memo to the CEO expressing your findings and recommendations. Start by understanding the techniques used by Winkler to collect information and reasons why these techniques worked. Think about the potential consequences to the company. Brainstorm ways that the company can prevent these techniques from working in the future (controls or counter-measures); feel free to be creative in your brainstorming session. Keep a list of potential controls. Once you have created a list of potential controls, evaluate the controls in terms of your expectations of the costs .
