Informative Speech of Self-Reflection. A 2 to 3 minute prepared speech. A Basic Outline, reflecting the organization of the speech’s content, along with a Bibliography.
This is an Extemporaneous Speech with a research component. Starting with your actual date of birth (expanding the search to your birth year, if necessary), research what of significance was happening in your immediate locality, the nation or the world. Base your research in reliable sources of information: a national or international newspaper or magazine article (such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Time, Newsweek,) or upon the testimony of a trusted primary source. Select a topical news item to speak about, which reflects at least one of the following: your race, gender, ethnicity, cultural values, religious background, sexual orientation or economic status. Interpret this “historic” information for your audience in a manner that is informative and enlightening as to your self-identity.”
As per my course instructions-This assignment is designed to focus on YOU (ME) and is not just about summarizing the literal facts in some article or re-telling someone else’s story. Instead, put the focus on interpreting how these historical facts and or this story relate to your personal journey.
The date of birth to be used is May 15, 1981. (The search can be expanded using the birth year if necessary).
A little information about me to help in writing this paper.
I am a female, born in the Dominican Republic. Immigrated to the USA at the age of 8.
Religion played an important role in my early years. (I am now an atheist) I was born into a large catholic family. I went to Sunday school. My grandmother and I would always pray before my bedtime. I would always look forward to those moments. Even though I no longer believe in religion my grandmother and I have a strong and loving relationship, she accepts me for who and what I am.
My grandmother also thought me how to cook and it is something we enjoy doing together. My grandmother is my biggest fan and supporter.
