Sexism

Sexism is prejudice, stereotyping, or discrimination, typically against women, on the basis of sex. It is the belief that one sex is superior to another, often leading to the subordination of a specific gender.

Example 1: Unequal pay for men and women doing the same job. This systemic issue reflects the belief that women's work is less valuable than men's.

Example 2: The use of gendered insults or stereotypes in media or everyday conversation, such as the stereotype that women are too emotional to be leaders.

Sexism leads to the oppression of women by creating a society where they face a wage gap, are underrepresented in leadership roles, and are more vulnerable to violence and harassment. This limits their opportunities and reinforces their subordinate social position.
